I’m Astra. I’m an astrologer, diviner, and researcher based in occupied unceded Ohlone land.

I’m a former professional organizer, working on (and winning) campaigns on Black land defense, educational accessibility, workers rights, border abolition and more.

In middle school I taught myself how to read natal charts in order to roast my classmates, but in 2016 I began to deeply study astrology. I later hosted full moon gatherings with friends on a rooftop, dancing under the moons and stars.

Now, I consult, guide, and make medicine for my community.

🌈 About Me

I was raised by land spirits, healed with water spirits, and taught by the stars. I’m Black, non-binary, a fat liberationist and autonomist. I use astrology and tarot in client sessions to support growth, autonomy, and pleasure.

I’ve been studying astrology formally since 2016, and doing client work since 2020. I’m a burnt out former movement organizer using astrology as a tool of connection to ancestral work and liberation.

I apply ancient techniques to the modern world. Using the stars to guide us collectively towards liberation. I guide the folks I work with to dismantle capitalism and oppression internally, interpersonally, and structurally. I’ve spoken at the 2020 Queer Astrology Conference, the 2020 Black Astrology Conference, the Astrology of Awakening Summit, and the 2021 Fresh Voices Summit. You can also catch appearances on episode 104 of the Stars Like Us podcast hosted by Aliza Kelly, the Locational Astrology episode of The Strology Show hosted by Kirah Tabourn, and episode 112 of the Energetic Principals podcast hosted by Mel LaFara.

My organizing work has been featured in many publications, including The Indypendent, The Nation, The Village Voice, and the book "Blackballed: The Black and White Politics of Race on America's Campuses" by Lawrence C. Ross.

My hobbies outside of organizing and astrology include being a performance artistiand doing sketch comedy writing.

💼 Experience

Praxis Astrology | Jan 2020 - Present

• Doing natal chart, solar return (birthday readings), locational astrology, and other forms of astrology.
• Hosting astrology events, coordinating speakers, creating presentations on astrological phenomena, and event outreach & promotion.
• Teaching workshop series (Astrology 101, Locational Astrology, and Certification Courses) and supporting other astrologers in using Hellenistic, Medieval, Modern Psychological, and Renaissance techniques.
• Creating educational content, resources, and workshops for various platforms and apps. Regular host of astrological spaces on Clubhouse, Discord, and Patreon.
• Website design, graphic design, script-writing, content creation, and creating content calendars.
• Queer Astrology Conference 2020 and Black Astrology Conference 2020 speaker.
• Hosting my own astrologer showcases with multiple astrologers doing presentations on various topics, with QTBIPOC majority presenters.

Teaching Assistant - Portland Astrology School | Jan 2020 - June 2021

• Developing messaging and materials for Portland School of Astrology's social media.
• Helping students understand basic astrological principles, connecting students to additional resources and readings, and being a chat monitor for Portland School of Astrology classes.
